Five signs a short link deserves a second look

• It arrived unsolicited. A delivery text you weren't expecting, a prize you never entered for - Check before you tap.
• Urgency is the whole message. "Your account will be closed in 2 hours" is the oldest phishing pressure trick there is.
• The sender doesn't match the story. A bank that texts from a random mobile number isn't your bank.
• The revealed destination imitates a brand. After checking, look closely: paypa1.com and micros0ft.net count on you skimming.
• It chains through multiple redirects. Legitimate marketing rarely needs to hide behind three hops.
