Understand link activity without building an IP-address database

Compare human and bot traffic, inspect a privacy-safe clickstream, track outcomes, and control what referrer data reaches a destination.

What you can do

Each capability below is available in the current GoTo.now application.

Privacy-safe clickstream

Review time, device class, coarse country or region, referrer host, matched rule, and redirect status without displaying or storing a raw visitor IP.

Human and bot separation

Use human totals for campaign decisions while keeping crawler and preview traffic visible as a separate category.

Conversion events

Connect purchases, signups, bookings, or other outcomes through the API with idempotent external identifiers.

Referrer privacy

Preserve the referrer, reduce it to its origin, or suppress it for the destination using a standards-based Referrer-Policy header.

Protected reports

Share expiring link or campaign reports, optionally password-protected, without giving someone dashboard access.

Audit export

Export account activity as CSV for investigations, compliance reviews, or an external archive.

A newsletter spike that is not what it first appears

A campaign records 2,400 total requests, but 900 are preview crawlers from mail and messaging services. The team compares the 1,500 likely human visits with 120 idempotent signup events, then shares a password-protected 30-day report with the client.

What this changes: The decision uses human traffic and outcomes rather than an inflated request total, without giving the client dashboard access or exposing raw IP addresses.

Is this the right tool?

Use it when

  • Campaign decisions depend on human rather than raw request counts
  • A client needs a limited report instead of account access
  • Conversions must be matched without duplicating retried events

Choose another approach when

  • You need person-level identity or raw visitor IP exports
  • You expect referrer hiding to conceal the destination itself

How it works

1

Create and share

Every account-owned link receives private aggregate analytics.

2

Open the right level

Use the account overview, a single-link report, a campaign report, or the smart-link clickstream.

3

Act on outcomes

Compare human traffic and conversions instead of treating every automated request as a potential customer.

Behavior worth knowing

  • The clickstream intentionally excludes raw IP addresses and fingerprint identifiers.
  • Referrer suppression changes what the destination receives; it does not disguise or cloak the destination.
  • Direct links use redirect-engine visit data, while smart links add their selected routing rule and HTTP status.

Analytics & Privacy FAQs

Does the clickstream reveal visitor IP addresses?
No. It reports coarse location and request context needed to understand a campaign, but no raw IP field is stored or shown.
Why do human clicks differ from total clicks?
Messaging previews, uptime checks, search crawlers, and other automation can request a link. GoTo.now separates likely bots from human visits.
Can I share analytics without inviting a teammate?
Yes. Create an expiring report link and optionally require a report password.
