Getting started
Add a custom back-half
A custom back-half turns goto.now/x8Kq2 into goto.now/summer-sale - Readable, on-brand and easier to trust. People click named links more often because they can guess where they lead.
Claim your own back-half
- Sign in (back-halves are free but account-only).
- In the dashboard's Quick create card - Or on the homepage - Paste your destination URL.
- Type your back-half in the custom back-half field: letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, 3–60 characters.
- Create the link. If the back-half is taken you'll be told immediately - Just try a variation.
When your first choice is taken
Don't fight for a single word - Add one specific detail instead. If sale is gone, sale-june or acme-sale probably isn't. Shorter isn't always better; a back-half that says what it is beats a cryptic one every time.
Naming habits that pay off later
Good back-half habits
- Name the campaign, not the click:
spring-menu, notclick-here. - Keep a convention like
brand-channel-offerso your dashboard stays readable. - Back-halves are permanent once created (existing shares would break otherwise), so spell-check first.
Here's why the convention matters. Six months from now you'll have dozens of links, and promo2 won't tell you anything. But cafe-instagram-brunch tells you the brand, the channel, and the offer at a glance. And remember: even though the back-half is locked in, the destination stays editable - You can point summer-sale at a brand-new page next year without changing the link at all.
